therapeutic territories for children

The project began in the busy daily routine at the ALYN Children Rehabilitation Hospital in Jerusalem. In a medical institute such as ALYN, TORY focuses on making a personal and private experience whilst in the public spaces inside the hospital.

TORY is a system composed of three objects that relate to different human and architectural needs at ALYN and creates temporary therapeutic small spaces within the hospital.

What does it take to create space? How do you define a place in the space? How do we feel and experience ourselves in the space?

These instructing questions are answered through shape, color, and new material, in the hospital medical scenery.

TORY wishes to create an intimate safe place for the child and therapist to work in, a place that make the rehabilitation process more positive and pleasant.

Each object has a different closing gesture  , with which it transforms from a two-dimensional to three-dimensional Situation.

TORY TEXTILE
The TORY system uses unique textile patterns based on drawings created by ALYN children. Furthermore, every object has its own color and pattern.
During the work on the project, many different patterns from the children's illustrations were created. Everything is gathered together in this pattern book.
